Whew! This week went by quickly! And not without some notable news.
Let’s Get The Party Started
Our super-awesome friends over at Eventbrite announced their acquisition of Lanyrd this week. Lanyard is a great tool for professional events and conferences. I’m sure the partnership is going to be a wonderful asset to all the party planners and attendees out there. I can’t wait to see what they cook up together.
Small Business – Big Data
There’s a really cool new feature in MailChimp to help you collect and use Big Data for your business. And at the click of a button, no less! Duct Tape Marketing has some other tips to help you understand How a Small Business Can Benefit from Big Data as well. The best Big Data for Small Business can be found in the WSJ’s article, New Flash of Optimism for Small-Business Owners. We love small businesses, and that’s really good news.
I Love Purple
I’m just putting it out there. Even though Crazy Marie kinda gives purple a bad name, it’s still part of my personal brand (so is lunch, but that’s another story). So when I first saw the new Yahoo! logo I was happy with their use of Pantone Violet C. Although I’m not super emotional about the logo either way, I thought Marissa Mayer’s post about it’s creation was interesting. I love a good re-branding story as much as the next person, but this seemed kind of odd to me. The CEO, The Intern and The Designers spent a weekend working on the logo. That’s it? A weekend? Wow, those guys are good. Or… What do you think? Do you like it? Do you care?
In other Yahoo! news, if you’ve long regretted your username choice, (it was likely way back back in the 90’s after all) you have a chance to get the username of your dreams. For two bucks, you can (maybe) get the user name you’ve always wanted. There you go.
You Look So Animated
Everyone Loves Cats!
The really big news though? Our Providence neighbors at Hasbro have solved the age old problem of How to Play Monopoly with a Cat.
Have a great weekend!
