Update on MailChimp Sync

The new version of our MailChimp sync has been out for a few weeks now and for the most part it’s been going really well. However, there have been some issues with groups so we’ve had to take a step back and take another look at the problem. Unfortunately, this means that we will have to turn off group syncing. It was just proving difficult to keep them in sync and was causing some big problems for our international customers especially.

First name, last name email, subscribed will continue to stay in sync and the dashboard and contact detail widgets will remain — just groups are turned off for now. Existing customers will still have the group sync enabled but once that sync is deleted, it will no longer work.

We hate taking features away but thought it best in this case, as it was causing too many edge-case issues. We’re going to take another look at groups and come up with a better way to do this in the future.

Our sincere apologies for the change. If you have some ideas on how you think we could improve the sync going forward, please let us know. We look forward to making the MailChimp integration work at its full capacity for all of our customers.

Are there any updates or ETA’s on this? I’ve been doing a lot of testing with the Mailchimp sync and it’s a little glitchy. I’ve sent my findings to support if it helps.

We’re about to embark on syncing our 1500 contacts to our Mailchimp account. Rather than risk the duplicates and miss-syncing of data we have decided to sync into a new Mailchimp list rather than use our existing list, which is a shame.

Same as above, any ETA on when or if Tag’s and Group’s will be synced w/ Mailchimp?

This feature alone was the main reason I selected to use batchbook. I would hate to see it go away….

Hi Sean – in looking into your service for a project, I want to know how sending out email through Mailchimp via batchbook will work without group syncing. Say I sync contacts between the two services and want to segment that list to send email to specific set of users I’ve deemed in Batchbook. Can I no longer designate just those users to send to on the MailChimp side? I realize Mailchimp alone can segment out users, but I want to be sure I can pass a segmented list at least one-way from batchbook to mailchimp so I can build very customized campaigns. Forgive me if I’m misunderstanding anything but looking to see if Batchbook is a good fit. Thanks, Ryan

Also moved to batchbooks with this feature as a primary motivator.

One piece of the sync that was absent was the link directly to the contacts “view member” page on mailchimp. this would be very helpful especially now that groups are down. It would be cool if it happened as part of the activity partner section..

    Same here, any ETA?

Group sync is currently off will be looked at agin in the new version of BatchBook we are using. It was just proving too unreliable and we are going to work directly with MailChimp on the next iteration of this project.

You can setup the sync again to get the newer version. If you just want to push segments made in BB I would opt to use the non-synced 1 way mailchimp sync. Just choose not to sync contacts on setup and as you build lists you can send those lists directly to a list in MailChimp.

Like Mike, Michael and Fabie above, I specifically switched to Batchbook for the MailChimp integration. Now that it’s not performing as marketed, I feel like I am the victim of a bait-and-switch, and as you can imagine I am feeling rather dissatisfied.

When will this issue be addressed?

    Best regards,

I’ve also moved to Batchbook and Mail Chimp for this very integration and convinced my team to move our organisation this way after reading THIS POST:

What’s the movement on this? Do I have to admit that I’ve f’d up and look elsewhere?

It’s pretty simple isn’t it – if you choose to use groups you use a one-way sync, end of story
