BatchBook Update: Search Upgrades

Some big improvements to Search to announce. We recently moved to new search servers and they’re providing much faster searches. In addition to this upgrade, we’ve also added two new features:

  1. Record Not Communicated With: Now you can do specific time based searches to see whom you have not been in contact with. Very handy for keeping in touch with folks. This field accepts natural language input like ‘7 days ago’ which is nice for creating reports as the date does not have to be static.
  1. “Is Empty”: This is probably our #1 feature request of all time. People have always wanted an ability to see what records have no email address, what records do not yet have their supertag info filled out. Now you have it! In the advanced search dropdown you will now see:

Just select the ‘is empty’ filter with no value and BatchBook will bring back any records with blank info for that field. A really nice way to make sure the data you need is on the contacts important to you.

With these changes, BatchBook Search just became a lot more powerful. We hope you get some good use out of it!

I’m glad to see one of my suggestions made it into the product so quickly!

    This is a great update!

I am especially a fan of #1. This was the magic bullet I found in Batchbook when I was doing comparisons over multiple CRM solutions a year ago. I even posted a brief post about such functionality:

I am glad to see batchbook not only users to manage their network, but also maintain it as well.

    Bravo guy! Nice additions :-)

Very cool – are those search filters available via the API? We’ll definitely be using the last communicated with for our sales process.

One thing I’ve noticed though is that value doesn’t seem to always update. Or maybe I don’t understand when it should update. But I’m assuming emails or phone calls that we record as communications would trigger it, right?

This is awesome. Going to make a great product fantastic. The ability to search for empty fields will make a big improvement in our workflow.

Do you ever see the ability to search Batchbook in Google desktop on pc and Google quick box on mac? It would be a great way to search contacts and companies from your pc and launch their info page on BB.

    Just a thought.

I would like to produce a list of all contacts that have email addresses. Do I have to wait for an is-not-empty update?

Isn’t there some way to update the “contains” condition so that it doesn’t ignore “@”? Wouldn’t that be simpler?
