I’m back with some interesting things to read during your Friday lunch hour. I’d love to hear what you think of these resources or if you have others to share with me. Please let me know in the comments.
Mobile Email Tips
The folks at Emma published a useful (and beautiful) guide to mobile email. The Brainiac Guide to Mobile Email is an easily understandable and fun to read guide to help you with mobile email design. Since “43% of all email gets opened on mobile devices these days”, it’s a good idea to make sure your email looks it’s best on mobile devices.
Word of Mouth
Everyone wants to launch the next viral video or at least to find a message that will engage their customers. (Bueller?) Andy Sernovitz shares 3 quick tips for finding your best word of mouth topic. If you haven’t signed up for the Smart Brief on Social Media newsletter, I highly recommend it. Andy’s blog Damn, I wish I’d Thought of That! is another must-read resource for word of mouth marketing and social media tips.
Free Small Business Seminar in Charlotte, NC
I wish I was going to be in Charlotte on Wednesday for this seminar hosted by Formstack. If you are in the area, you should try to attend this free seminar on cloud software. It’s a morning filled with interesting speakers and you can “work through a personal cloud assessment with a local tech professional.” Also… free breakfast.
Practice Makes Perfect
If you haven’t read about Jennifer Dewalt, the woman who is building 180 web pages in 180 days, you really should take a look. Dewalt had no prior programming knowledge and set out to teach herself to code. The results are inspiring and she’s only on day 137 as of today.
Another woman who set her mind to learning something is Karen X. Chang. She learned to dance in a year, but what was even more interesting to me was how she set out to become a designer and taught herself. There are a ton of great resources there if you are interesting in improving your design skills for use in your own career or business.
Unexpected Free Time
Batchbook users are experiencing the gift of unexpected free time due to our new Drag and Go Instant Setup. We’re taking a fun little poll over on our Facebook page to see what people would do with some extra free time. Please take a moment to fill it out, there may be gifts!
