Our design and tech teams are in high gear with some useful app updates. For this latest update, we revisited our contact card. This is the box on the contact detail page that holds vital info like name, email, phone and address.
When we launched the new version of Batchbook, we introduced something called inline editing for the contact card. This made it easy for you to update contact info on the fly. All you had to do was click on an existing piece of info, like an email address, and you could edit it.
Over time we have noticed some issues with this approach to editing contacts. While editing was easy, taking action, like sending an email or opening a map to a client’s address, was not. We also thought we could slim down the contact card and make it look a lot nicer. So, recently, we got to work making some useful changes.
The first thing we did was change how the editing of details on the contact card works. Instead of clicking on an existing piece of data or a blank box, we’ve added an edit mode. In this mode, you can change, add or delete any piece of data.
Because it is in it’s own view, we believe this will cut down on making accidental edits, as well as give you a cleaner way to update your contact details.
Editing is still available both on the contact preview (from the main Contacts page) and on the full contact detail page.
By introducing this new edit mode, we were able to make some useful changes to how the contact card looks and how you interact with it.
First off, if you want to take an action such as sending an email or opening a map or website, you can now just click and the action will take place.
We’ve also been able to cut down on clutter. You no longer see empty input fields taking up space. Those all live tidily tucked away in edit mode.
This means that what you see when you look at a contact card is just useful and actionable information.
A Better Experience
We hope this change will give you a better user experience as you work with your customer data in Batchbook. The goal is to help you get at your contact details and take action on them more easily.
